Mourinho faces axe if he fails to win trophies

    (ANI)

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho needs to win the Champions League and the La Liga to ensure his job at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to a club insider, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is running out of patience with Mourinho since he has been courting unnecessary controversies with the media, rivals and officials.

"It's not really a question of results, it's about the club's image. No one doubts Mourinho is a great coach, but the situation is becoming more and more difficult," said the insider.

The insider revealed that everything at the club would be fine if Mourinho wins trophies with the Los Blancos, The Sun reports.

"Perez brought Mourinho in to win trophies. If he delivers all may be forgiven. If not then all Madrid will be left with will be the bitterness and controversy that surrounds Mourinho," the insider added.

Mourinho has been criticized for his negative tactics and was jeered by some Real Madrid fans during last week's 4-1 win over Athletic Bilbao.

That was also just hours after Spanish newspapers revealed Mourinho's argument with Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas following home defeat to Barcelona in the cup.

Madrid's change to an attacking style at the Nou Camp is believed to be down to player-power. (ANI)
